Tom Tomai

Tom Tomai is a proven executive with extensive line-leadership, change management, and turnaround experience across a broad spectrum of industries including financial services, healthcare, human capital consulting and IT. He is known for his ability to think strategically and execute tactically to achieve desired outcomes. Underpinning Tom’s success is his life-long commitment to the effective practice of leadership and coaching to create environments of success.

Tom has a strong track record of success. Prior to joining the O’Brien Group, he worked for Microsoft helping large global enterprises develop and implement their digital transformation strategies leveraging Microsoft’s technologies. In a separate role he managed several of Microsoft’s global enterprise relationships, consistently exceeded his goals.

Leading turnarounds and transformation efforts is a theme throughout his career. As the New England Managing Director for Lee Hecht Harrison, a human capital consulting firm, he dramatically improved his unit’s results. Prior to that, he helped lead the transformation of Anthem Blue Cross & Blue Shield NH from a standalone, money losing, non-profit to a very profitable business unit of a public company. While at Anthem, Tom also led the Anthem East Leadership Development Team. It was even earlier in his career with Bank of America (FleetBoston) that he established his reputation for leading turnarounds. Serving as an EVP, Tom orchestrated the turnaround of three separate retail financial service units going from “worst” to “first.” Prior to that he was the number one Regional SVP for nine consecutive quarters. Tom attributes his success to developing high-performance teams through coaching.

Tom graduated from Dartmouth College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and earned his MBA at New York University’s Stern School of Business.

Tom is active in his community and has 25+ years of non-profit board experience. He is a strong supporter of the United Way, serves on the Board of Directors of the Granite YMCA, and is a Trustee of Casque & Gauntlet, a senior honor society at Dartmouth College.

An experienced presenter, Tom teaches effective presentation programs, is a past member of Toastmaster’s International and is a frequent featured speaker on leadership, personal change, customer experience and sales.

Tom, his wife, Mary, and their five children enjoy travel and are outdoor enthusiasts.
